Book it in, ring it out

Work comes in on the bench and goods go out over the counter, often to the same person on the same afternoon. QuixChex books the item in against the customer, keeps what you’ve had apart for them on that record, and puts the bench work and anything they pick up on one bill you collect once.

How a repair runs

One Repair, Start to Finish

A cracked phone comes in at ten. It’s booked in as a repair against the owner, with the model, the IMEI off the back and the fault in her own words. The $45 bench fee goes on it there and then, and she wants it that day, so the $60 rush goes on too. At four she collects. The tempered-glass protector she picks off the shelf goes on the repair alongside the bench work and the rush, so there’s one total to collect, and it’s marked paid before she’s out the door.

  1. The item comes in over the counter

The item gets its own record on that customer before it goes near the bench. The price, the technician and the status all sit on that one record.

  2. The bench fee goes on before the strip-down

Diagnostic at $45, rush at $60 if they want it today, at the prices you set. Nobody works the total out on the back of the tag at collection.

  3. They collect, and it’s one payment

The screen protector she picks up on the way out goes on the repair with the parts and the bench work, so there’s one total and one card tap, instead of paying for the repair and then queuing again for the protector.

Fixed by four. One sale. Paid.

Intake, Turnaround, Unclaimed

Two identical black phones on one shelf

Each one is booked in as a repair against the customer — make, model, serial or IMEI, and the fault in the words they used at the counter. Two of the same model are two serials, not two tags that look alike. When they bring the same laptop back in March, you can see what you already had apart.

“Is it ready yet?” is half the phone calls

The repair sits on the customer with the item and its status, so whoever picks up the phone answers without walking out to the bench. When it’s done, send the pay link — that answers the question and takes the money in the same message.

Saturday fills up in three people’s heads

Every repair is a dated record with the item on it, so the bench for Saturday is a list anyone can open before a seventh one gets promised.

Finished work nobody comes back for

Storage is a priced line at $5 a day, and it goes on the repair like any other charge. When they finally turn up, the shelf time is on the bill rather than on you.

FAQ

Questions, Answered

The laptop and the phone came in together — one repair or two?

Two. They’re separate items, so they take separate prices, separate technicians and separate collection dates, and both sit under the one customer. One can go home Tuesday while the other waits on a part.

What if it needs more work than the bench fee covers?

Add the work to the repair and the total moves with it — bench labour at $85 an hour, or the major repair line instead of the minor one. There’s no approval link to send on this profile, so the yes still comes from you ringing them. What they agreed to is on the repair before they collect.

Can they pay before they come in?

Yes. Send a pay link once the repair is done and they collect something already paid for. Or take the card at the register when they walk in. The repair comes up paid either way.

Does it count parts stock?

No. Nothing here counts what’s on the shelf, and there are no purchase orders. Parts are priced lines in your own list — a screen, a battery, a chain — and one goes on the repair like any other line, so the total is right even though the shelf count lives somewhere else.

I sell parts and accessories from the site too — is that separate?

No. A case or a charger sold from the site goes on the same customer and into the same day’s total as one sold over the counter. Somebody who ordered a screen online and then brings the phone in is one record, not two.

Can I see which technician has it?

Yes. The repair carries the technician it’s assigned to, so the record says who has it. Hours are another matter — nothing here clocks time against a repair, and there’s no live map on this profile.
